THIRD ANNUAL ISLAMORADA Event, Oct. 18-20, 2002

Another great success!
We were pleased to have a successful 3rd annual event in Islamorada. We
thank our event hosts: Holiday Isle Resorts & Marina, Breezy Palms Resort
and Whale Harbor.

LLGF Fishing Report : Catch and Release Tournament Winners with scores:
Dolphin - Patricia Bones, Port Aransas, TX, Fish Tales, 2; Blackfin Tuna - Kathryn Feanny, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Blue Chip Too, 1; Snook - Kimberly Van Campen, Williamsport, PA, Capt. Todd McLean/Lil' Hooker, 2; Redfish - Anita Wexler, Lake Park, FL, Capt. Brian Premaza/Back to Business, 1; Grouper - Lee Lavery, Dania Beach, FL, Capt. Eric Bass, 1; Snapper - Linda Harper, Ft. Myers, FL, Kevin McGuire/Yellow Lab Marine, 17 and Party Boat Division - Susie Culp, Amelia Island, FL, Miss Tradewinds, 2. Recipe Contest Winner: Andi Fleri, for "Grilled Fish Steaks with Tomato Basil Butter Sauce."
*Al McCloud, Chit Yea: The ladies lost a nice kingfish and learned how to put a straw on a ballyhoo bill. They voted their captain as "The Cutest"and named him the ballyhoo king. Capt. George Clark/Rodeo: Patty Dunn and Nancy Brantley enjoyed backcountryfishing in the Everglades, catching/releasing 41 fish, including snapper, jack crevalle, ladyfish, catfish and barracuda. They saw tarpon, manatee and sharks.
*Capt. Norm Whitla/Backcountry Challenge: The ladies enjoyed sight casting for redfish and caught catfish, trout and jacks. Joyce Nelson caught her first fish ever, a trout. They experienced pandemonium when their catfish
and jack twisted their lines. "What a mess!" *Capt. Tadd Vandemark/Sneak Attack: Snapper was the fish of the day!
Capt. Kevin McGuire/Yellow Lab Marine: Linda Harper released 17 snapper and kept 2. Annette Lewandowski released 15 snapper. One big snook got away, and they had a great day!
*Capt. Todd McClean/Lil' Hooker: The women released 2 large snook, a redfish, lots of ladyfish and 'wacky' jacks. All fish were released. They were excited to see a dolphin chasing a fish out of the water. One of the
women had never fished before!


*K.C. Stuart/No Complaints: Fishing in Flagler's Railway, Sandy Snoddy caught 2 jack crevalles and a mangrove snapper and Judi Bray caught a jack crevalle (her first fish ever), mangrove snapper and stingray. They also
had a chance to pole the boat, admitting "It was a little crooked!"
*Capt. Brian Premaza/Back To Business: The women enjoyed catching flounder, trout, ladyfish, redfish and almost a shark.
*Capt. Eric Bass: Fishing in the Flamingo backcountry, the women caught redfish, grouper, trout & snapper. The highlight was when Lee Lavery hooked into a 7 foot alligator and got her lure back.
*Capt. Eddie Hill: The winning bonefish was released, but the ladies returned too late to qualify. Whatever they were doing, we know they had fun!!!
*Capt. Kerry Wingo: The ladies must have had so much fun, they never turned in their report! Dog House: "7 Kings for 6 Queens" was the motto. All aboard caught at least one kingfish, ranging from 5 - 20 lbs. "We were a lean, mean, ladies
fishing machine!" they said.
Blue Chip Too: The ladies caught 24 fish, mostly snapper. The highlights were when a 6' hammerhead shark ate a snapper that Kathryn Feanny was reeling in and a freejumping sailfish. Reef Runner: The ladies caught tuna, dolphin and a houndfish. Fish Tales: The women caught several dolphin, tuna and jacks. They had a reality fishing experience described as 'a good time with several moments of hectic reeling, followed by long lulls.' Susan Matthews provided the


entertainment with her chumming techniques. Miller Time: The ladies caught yellowtail snapper and saw a marlin jumping. How Bout It: The women enjoyed catching yellowtail snapper, kingfish and rainbow runners. The ladies rated their boat as 'best crew in town!' Miss Tradewinds: The women caught grunts, grouper, snapper and hooked into
a few margaritas. They learned how to release fish they really wanted to keep!
