ST. AUGUSTINE Event - June 1-2, 2002 - Another great success!

We were pleased to have a successful 4th annual event in St. Augustine.Thanks to the Northeast Florida Marlin Association for the great facility! The event kicked off with a fun welcome reception on Friday night, hosted by Outback Crab Shack at Six Mile Marina and Burkhardt Distributing/Bud Light.
LLGF Fishing Report The ladies enjoyed calm waters for the half day of fishing. Capt. Steven Holmes: Georgia Dahl caught a redfish, Sharon Cahoon caught a trout, Marsha Bierman caught an eel and a "Sailor's Choice". All aboard learned to duck when Georgia was setting up on the fish. *Robby Bishop and Wendell Nolan/All About Boats: April Gold and June Phillips had a double header and caught two nice kingfish. *Capt. Jim Taylor: The women had a good time and learned alot! *Capt. Pierre Pierce/Floridays: Participants enjoyed a close encounter with a manatee. *Capt. Ralph Olivett/Lucky 7's: The lady anglers caught and released flounders. Breakaway: Kingfish were caught by Phyllis Hibbitts, Tammy Staton, Debra Mickler and Chrissy Verdin. Joy Litton released 1 1/2 bonita, the latter
she shared with a barracuda. They learned tide and wind effects and boat handling. *Maverick: Betty Gasse and Nancy Kemner had fun fights with bonita and Susan Kirkeby caught a barracuda. Thanks to Terry and Janet Steiner! *Shock Wave: Ellen Thompson and Lindy Hill (her first dolphin ever) both
caught dolphin and Catherine Faulkner caught a kingfish. Their luck was contributed to Bahama Mamas and KC and the Sunshine Band. Special thanks to Buz Lea and Gary Howard! *Ocean Predator: The women had lots of fun fighting bonita and brought back kingfish. John Wright was an excellent host!
Pier: There wasn't much action on the pier so the women went mud wading, where Tamithia Winn pulled in a plastic bluefish. * Take the Ladies Fishing Sponsors Recipe Contest winners: We had two first place awards: Christine Verdin for "Stuffed Redfish with Crab Meat Stuffing" and Deb Mickler for "Garlic
Salmon."
