"Ladies Let's Go Fishing!"® Provides Wealth of Fishing Experiences in Alaska

A 214 lb. halibut boated by Betty Gasse, Hobe Sound, FL was the highlight of this year's "Ladies, Let's Go Fishing!"® (LLGF) event at the Cove Lodge in Elfin Cove, Alaska. Women came from many cities to attend the event, which offered educational fishing experiences from July 12-16.

In addition to the large halibut, Gasse, a woman in her 70's, caught a 36 pound king salmon as well as a potential 16-pound line class world record black rockfish.

During the week, two other potential IGFA world record rockfish were taken in the 4-pound and 6-pound line class by Linda Hughes of St. Paul, MN and Kathy Anderson of Anchorage, AK. The week's agenda included fishing for salmon, halibut, rockfish and ling cod. The group also tried their hand at freshwater fly and spin cast fishing for salmon, dolly varden and rainbow trout. With pleasant Alaska weather in the 70's and sunshine, the women were treated to incredible wildlife viewing including breaching humpback whales, killer whales, sea lions, sea otters and a host of other wildlife. "This is a remarkable event that should not be missed!" commented lodge owner Gordy Wrobel.

Next year's LLGF Alaska event will again be held at the Cove Lodge in early July. LLGF selected this lodge due to its excellent variety of fishing, superb accommodations and capable staff.
