LLGF Fishing Report: 3/23/2003
Mary B Drift Boat: Out of a dozen women, almost all caught fish. Several
caught bluefish. Sandra Williams of Lauderdale By The Sea, FL caught the
first fish, also her first fish ever and the largest bluefish caught on the
boat at 15 pounds! Rebecca Wald, Ft. Lauderdale, FL also caught her first
fish ever, a large bluefish, assisted by her mother, who wrapped her arms
around Rebecca's waist to stabilize her as she reeled. The ladies credited
Jason Schratwieser, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, for
his superb coaching and assistance, and apologized for knocking him in the
head with a reel. The ladies were the "stars" for the Channel 2 camera
crew.
Freebie: Catching her first fish ever, a 16 lb. dolphin, Sandra Griggle,
Boca Raton, FL cried with tears of joy. Her two sons had never taken time
to fish with her, so she's excited about sharing her new skills with them in
the future. "My muscles turned to mush!" she exclaimed. Joyce Wilson from
Lantana, FL caught 4 dolphin, Linda Livernois, Ft. Lauderdale, FL caught 2
dolphin and Cheryl Rhodes, Ft. Lauderdale, FL caught a dolphin. 15 dolphin
total were caught and with many released.
Cherin III: Nancy Meyer, Cooper City, FL caught a 36" kingfish. The ladies
learned about fishing tackle and planers. John Gorman, the captain, and
mate, Jack showed the ladies a great time.
Sweet Moe: Maria Paulson, Miami, FL hooked into a sailfish, which stole her
bait and leader. The women saw dolphin and a big turtle.
Sandbob: Sherri Hitz, Marathon, FL released her first sailfish. Crystal
Campos, Ft. Lauderdale, FL caught a kingfish. The other three ladies hooked
into dolphin and had a great time. Capt. Joe Kaine pulled the rabbit out of
the hat for his crew of lady anglers.
Double Duty: Kristin Brown, Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Pat Kurtz, Winter Haven,
FL got into a school of dolphin and returned with a nice bucket of fish and
icky shirts, which they proudly displayed at the fish tales party. They
hooked into 60 dolphin and released most of them.
Bouncer's Dusky: All women caught numerous kingfish and bonita during a busy
fishing trip. After too much laughter and a bit of insanity, Bouncer says
his mate will "never be the same!"
