There is no exact science for wind velocity but these bands have been tested on boats going 40 mph with 10-15 mph headwinds to boot and it kept the hat on. There are other sources of alligator clips to prevent hat loss but this product keeps it on your head and your face out of the sun.
How to use:
Put the Hat Keepers on your neck first. Put on your hat or visor, then slide up over the brim. When the boat stops, slide it back to your neck. It puts pressure so you have to lower it to your neck once in awhile.
